Students Adoption and voluntary Enrichment Programme

The save programme is an exclusive feature of St. Joseph's H.S.S, Thalassery. It is organised for higher secondary section to create an environment for the overall development of students.

In this scheme, the students are infact adopted by the teachers to care for them. The students are divided into four groups in a class and each group will be in charge of one or two tutors. Each group is a blalanced one, formed according to their performance in the examination so that outstanding students could help the others. The programme serves to generate a team spirit among the students and also a healthy student teacher relationship. Rather that being a mere teacher, tutor is expected to act as a friend , guide and guardian. Thus students get chances to discuss their acedemeic, non-acemedic and personal matters with the tutor. The tutor maintains a personal relationship with each student so as to make them feel someone is there to take care of them. Tutot pays an induvidual attenstion to each member of the group regarding their conduct inside and outside the campus. Any sort of misbehaviour or faults from student are enquired and properly handled by concerned tutor. The teachers concerned with save groups visits student houses if necessary and enquire about family atmosphere.

The SAVE group meets atleast once in a week in presence of the tutor. Turor keeps a note on the acheivements of each student and discuss their performanace with other subject teachers. There is also an evaluation of their performance after each examination and necessary remedial measures are taken. The tutor effectively involves in the personality development and career guidance of the student.

The save program has been conducting in the past years. It could make much positive influence on the students. It gives the students motivation and provides directions for them. The SAVE thus becomes an ideal scheme to make education an enjoyable experience.
