Career guidance and councelling unit ::

The career guidance unit in St. Joseph's H.S.S. is a well going system. This unit aims at giving practical instructions for the students regarding their career and charater development. Our educational instituitions are focusing on enhancing the marks ofmediocre students and under achievers. Little attention is given to true career guidance. Even gifted children are forced to swim along with the average. Thus we see a strong need for such a career guidance unit in any higher secondary instituition. The career guidance unit in our aims at helping the students to create a concrete plan about their higher studies and future career, as they complete the higher secondary course. Thus the students can make their own Action plan for their future. They are provided with the directions about the careers in their interested areas and information about the courses and instituitions such courses related to those areas. The unit also aims at the personality development of the students. Books on various subjects are made available to the students that give information for choosing their career and also serve their personality development. Individual councelling is given to students facing any type of problems in their studies or personal problems. The career guidance and councelling unit create a plot for the future planning in students. The ulltimate aim of this unit is to help the students establish new goals, develop anew sense of purpose, and generate new ideas about themselves and their future.
